In Chicago’s Ukrainian Village, Donny grows up with his best friend, Vito, amidst the chaos of drug addicts, punks, and destitute misfits. To make sense of the world around him, he rewrites narratives of history into a mix of humorous and solemn dreamscapes. But when faced with the untimely death of his sister, Donny abandons all hopes and passions to a cold spiral, letting the city consume him. His only comfort is his dog, Mercy.

Older and jaded, Donny is a late-night service industry worker, and Vito is a corrupt CPD officer, and Donny’s faced with another tragic divergence and end in his life. But when an old flame reappears, he knows it’s time for a change. When the relationship becomes turbulent, Donny must search for self-acceptance and hope. But in a modern world full of apathy—is hope possible?
